The driver of this van narrowly escaped death after a collision with a council grader on Woongarra Scenic Drive yesterday morning.
A YOUNG driver had a lucky escape yesterday morning when a council grader and her van collided, pushing her and her seat into the steering wheel.
Emergency services were called to the crash about 9.45am on Woongarra Scenic Drive, Bargara, where the grader had been performing resurfacing work.
The grader’s ripper smashed through the driver’s side of the car.
The P-plater was taken to Bundaberg Hospital with minor injuries.
Bundaberg Regional Council chief executive officer Peter Byrne said the grader driver was left shaken.
“Queensland Police and Workplace Health and Safety will be investigating further,” Mr Byrne said. “It could have been a lot worse with big machinery and cars so close.”
