IT is time for Bundaberg sporting groups to put pen to paper and take a shot at $21 million available under a new volunteer grants program.
Leaky equipment sheds, faded club signs and clapped out vehicles could become a thing of the past for resourceful sports clubs.
Introduced to encourage community volunteers, the funding program also has some potential benefits for the tireless community worker.
Funds are available for the training of volunteers and to reimburse community workers who use their own cars for fuel.
Funding is limited and applications will be assessed and prioritised according to how strongly they meet the selection criteria.
Paper-based application forms and selection criteria are available on request, by calling the Federal Government’s toll-free hotline on 1800 183 374 or by emailing vg2010@fahcsia.gov.au.
Applications should be posted to Volunteer Grants 2010 Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs, Locked Bag 5001, Tuggeranong BC, ACT 2901.
Applications must be lodged by 2 pm on Friday, April 16.
