AFTER repeated requests for a wedding venue, Country Comfort Hotel owner Raj Rajan decided to do something about it and now plans to build Bundaberg’s biggest function room.
“The area has a lot of shortages for weddings and conferences so I thought it would be a good move,” Mr Rajan said.
The function room will seat about 300 guests and also feature two removable walls which can separate the space into three rooms.
The expansion of the Takalvan Street hotel, which currently can hold about 150 guests, will cost the owners at least $2 million to build.
An additional 10 units will be built, making the hotel one of the largest in the region.
“If everything goes well we could have it up and running by Christmas.
“It could be ambitious but I don’t think it will take too long to build once we have planning approval,” Mr Rajan said.
The hotel is waiting for development approval from Bundaberg Regional Council.
