Gladstone Regional Council’s environment and regulation portfolio spokesperson Councillor Col Chapman is urging residents to make the switch this Earth Hour.
GLADSTONE Regional Council is encouraging residents to make the switch to a more sustainable future by turning off lights as part of Earth Hour 2010.
Earth Hour encourages residents and businesses to turn off their lights on March 27 between 8.30pm and 9.30pm in aid of the environment.
Environment and regulation portfolio holder Col Chapman said to raise awareness about climate change and the need for action, unessential lights and electrical equipment at council offices would be turned off as part of Earth Hour.
“The motto for this year’s Earth Hour is ‘earth hour, every hour’, and organisers are asking participants to treat turning off the switch as the beginning of a more sustainable future,” he said.
