Team Ice not so cool

INDOOR CRICKET: Anger Management captain Luke Christian has come out all guns blazing ahead of his side’s grand-final showdown with Team Ice tomorrow night.

Christian labelled competition front-runners Team Ice “chokers” and predicted they would fall at the final hurdle just as they did last year.

“They always seem to lose the big games,” Christian said.

“I guess you could say they are chokers.”

There is some truth to the statement, considering Christian’s side won last year’s grand final and also beat Team Ice in their last encounter.

Team Ice, who boast a selection of Bundaberg outdoor representatives, are adamant that they can perform on the big stage and are hell-bent on showing that tomorrow night.

“They can say that sort of thing, but we are all pretty keen to smash them on Saturday and prove we are the best side in the comp,” Team Ice player Liam Denning said.

“It’s always a bit of a lottery in indoor. You can never be confident of a win, but I know the boys are all very motivated to get that premiership.”

A win for Anger Management would be fitting, though, considering they have moved up the ranks as a side during the last nine years.

Shawne McDonald, Josh Meehan and Christian have been involved in division three, two and one victories. A back-to-back division-one premiership would be the icing on the cake.

“We are indoor specialists, you could say, and it shows you don’t have to be a good outdoor player to play indoor,” Christian said.
