A FREE swine flu vaccination clinic will be held at Bundaberg State High School tomorrow from 9am to 3pm to help combat the pandemic’s likely second wave.
“We put the message out that it is possible a second wave of human swine flu will hit in April-May and the best way to manage the spread is immunisation,” Queensland’s Chief Health Officer Dr Jeannette Young said.
“It is vital that children and adolescents are immunised to help protect themselves and the broader community, but everyone in the family above the age of six months should be vaccinated.
“A second wave of swine flu is likely. This pandemic is still active in the Northern Hemisphere with the number of deaths reported globally by the World Health Organisation increasing from 8700 at the end of November to more than 16,400 in the latest report.”
More than 30,000 people have been immunised through the free clinics. For further information: 13HEALTH (13 43 25 84) or at www.health.qld.gov.au
