Bundy donates to rescue service

BUNDABERG generosity has shone through once again with donations flowing to support the life-saving AGL Action Rescue Helicopter.

“AGL has collected donations from local residents, community groups and businesses all wanting to provide assistance to help support the day to day operation of the rescue helicopter,” AGL Energy’s David Hamilton said.

AGL has collected more than $1 million in donations over the past three years from its customers alone.

“It is very heartening to see the wonderful response,” Mr Hamilton said.

Mr Hamilton presented the not-for-profit rescue service with the donations on behalf of the community.

“Thanks to the vital support from the Bundaberg community, AGL Action Rescue can continue to provide aero-medical retrieval services, emergency medical response, inter-hospital transfers and search and rescue missions, all at no cost to the patient,” he said.

With each mission costing the organisation thousands of dollars, community funding from the region is essential to help subsidise the vital service.

The service is saving more people than ever in 2010 – at least one a day – and has saved lives as far north as Gladstone all the way down to the New South Wales border, and from Fraser Island to Kingaroy.
