Christine Turner’s exhibition Suburban Rhapsody opens tonight at gallery39 in Hurst Street.
AFTER a two year absence Christine Turner is exploding back into the art world with the opening of her exhibition Suburban Rhapsody at gallery39.
The exhibition, which has been about 12 months in the making, uses old plastic tablecloths and doilies to create collages.
“The works have a musicality about them and they are named after a type of music and they invoke an evening in the suburbs,” Ms Turner said.
The Walkervale resident had been showing art for about 20 years until she was forced to take a break due to personal reasons.
“I’m feeling more on top of things now and felt ready to get a show together,” she said.
Ms Turner was nervous about her return to public showings.
“I’m not quite sure what to expect but I’m remaining positive,” she said.
Ms Turner, who owns gallery39, said if the exhibition went well she would consider opening the gallery for other artists.
The exhibition opens at the Hurst Street gallery at 6pm tonight.
Gallery39 will be open each weekend to March 21 from 1pm to 4pm each day.
The exhibition can also be viewed by appointment with Ms Turner.
