A BUNDABERG dad has more than a dozen shattered bones in his face after gatecrashers attacked him at his own property.
It is believed the man’s daughter was celebrating her 18th birthday at Svensson Heights on Saturday night, when a car load of young men crashed the private party and started a fight with one of the guests.
The father and another man stepped in and asked the uninvited men to leave, when the attackers turned on them.
“Several people were assaulted, including one man who was knocked unconscious,” Bundaberg Police Senior Constable Ricky Lynch said.
The victim made a complaint to police yesterday.
Snr const Lynch said it appeared the man had been hit in the face or head, then fell heavily to the ground.
“He sustained several fractures to his skull and face,” Snr Const Lynch said.
The man’s injuries were so extensive he was taken to Bundaberg Hospital and then went to Brisbane for further treatment.
The two other guests who were assaulted are not believed to have been seriously hurt.
Snr Const Lynch said there were seven gatecrashers in a vehicle believed to be a silver sedan.
But while there were at least 50 people at the party who could have witnessed the incidents that followed, details are still unclear.
“We are seeking witnesses who could give a better description of events or a a registration number for the car, who are prepared to give police statements,” Snr Const Lynch said.
“We are also looking for anyone who wishes to make a complaint about the actions of the gatecrashers.”
The attack took place near the intersection of Gaffel Street and and Watkins Street, Svensson Heights, about 11pm on Saturday.
It is believed the gatecrashers were known to other guests at the party.
Anyone with information is asked to telephone Bundaberg Police on 4153 9111 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
