Jessica Hobbin was one of the Wide Bay age champions.
SWIMMING: Bundaberg swimmers will make up a sizeable chunk of the Wide Bay Swimming Team when it competes in the State Championships next month.
Swimmers impressed selectors at the Bundaberg secondary interschool carnival held last Monday with 14 students earning selection in the Wide Bay team.
St Luke’s Anglican School took out the overall competition.
Ammon Lammi tore up the pool in the 16 boys 50m freestyle smashing a long-standing record with a time of 23.79 seconds.
From St Luke’s Kyle and Jeremy Rethamel, Ammon and Jordan-Ann Lammi, Kelsey Galloway, Jaimie McDuff, and Storm Galloway made the cut to be included in the Wide Bay squad.
Bundaberg State High School students to make it were Nick Lovett, Zoe Renke, Jessica Hobbin, Jake Hobbin
Shalom Catholic College students Jessica Clay and Susan Bass and Bonnie Stevens from Bundaberg North State School were also included.
They will compete at the State Championships held in Brisbane between March 25 and 27.

16 Girls: Jordan-Ann Lammi, St Luke’s.
16 Boys: Ammon Lammi, 16 Girls.
16 Boys: Jake Hobbin, BSHS.
18 Girls: Three-way tie with Storm Galloway from St Luke’s, Gemma Hendrikson from Shalom and Stephanie Winkler from KSHS.
18 Boys: Andrew Haimes, St Luke’s.
