Police pay respects to Trinity

POLICE officers and detectives involved with Trinity Bates’s murder investigation wore small pink butterflies as a tribute to the eight-year-old girl during her funeral service.

Bundaberg Police Superintendent Anne Macdonald said about 30 police officers attended to pay their respects to Trinity’s family.

“Our thoughts and our prayers are with the family at this most difficult time,” she said.

Police officers also lined the driveway and boundary of the Elliott Heads Road church as mourners gathered inside the building.

Detectives involved with the murder investigation stood with small pink cardboard butterflies attached to their coat pockets.

Uniformed officers wearing pink ribbons in their hair or other items also attended.
