THE National Gallery of Australia will extend its Masterpieces from Paris exhibition to cater for record attendances.
Close to 300,000 visitors have flocked to Canberra since early December to see more than 100 post-impressionism works by artists such as Van Gogh, Gauguin and Cezanne.
Some visitors waited for more than two hours on Saturday to see the exhibition, which was due to close on April 5.
But the gallery has decided to extend the exhibition and will make an announcement at 10.30am (AEDT) on Thursday.
The exhibition, on loan from the Musee D'Orsay in Paris, also is due to travel to Tokyo and San Francisco.
