Legend is passing on his wisdom

SOME former cricketing greats never quite retire from the game.

Former Test cricketer Geoff Dymock is passing on his wisdom to juniors.

SOME former cricketing greats never quite retire from the game.

It seems some of them need to satisfy the need to put back into their passion.

Former state and test cricketers Doug Walters and Geoff Dymock have been coaching together for many years and have devised a unique coaching program for junior players.

Cricketing Old Greats Australia will hold a coaching clinic for young cricketers in Bundaberg on March 22.

Dymock, a left-arm fast bowler, took 425 wickets in a career spanning 11 years.

“We can teach kids to score another 500 runs in a season, or how to genuinely swing or spin the ball without coming into any sort of injuries,” he said.

“Doug and I are up and down the coast at the moment, coaching wherever we can and really still enjoying being involved.”

Craig McDermott, John Bell and Dennis Lillie are others to have coached for Cricketing Old Greats.

Tiered coaching levels are being put into place and each young cricketer can be assured of an enjoyable day, with an opportunity to vastly improve their skills.

The clinic is open to all junior cricketers and will be held at the Across The Waves cricket nets.
