A PUNISHING Brothers drive over Country-Wests cover fieldsmen found the boundary of Salter Park on Saturday and sealed the deal on a comfortable win.

The four-run Chris Anderson slog brought the brothers tally to five for 102 eclipsing Country Wests’ total of 98 and sealing their fate.

Brothers won the toss and left Country-Wests to guard a sticky wicket, green from recent rain, against a stinging opening attack.

Mitch Sartori claimed two early scalps eliminating danger men Scott Irwin (1) and Phill Proctor (0).

Country-Wests’ Travis Henke led a fightback batting the majority of the innings and scoring 54 runs but his offsiders fell away quickly.

Brothers captain David Boge and Ed Butcher inflicted damage bagging four and three wickets respectively, and leaving Country-Wests all out for 98.

Country-Wests started strong with opening batsmen Josh Nugent and Ash Williams ousted with scores of 3 and 13.

Captain Mat Fleming toppled third-in-line Jarrod Laycock for 37 and followed it up with a mean delivery claiming Pete Purich.

David Boge was next to fall managing 15 before being caught behind by an Andrew Gear delivery.

But ultimately Country-Wests failed to slow the rollicking Brothers with the team managing 102 in only 21 overs.

Captain David Boge said his team had returned to form after a lacklustre performance against Norths last weekend with six dropped catches.

“We were really on our game on Saturday with all the guys bowling and fielding really well,” he said.

Brothers and Country-Wests will clash again next Saturday at Saltner Oval before the Grand Final match-up the following week.

“I’m hoping we can carry the momentum from Saturday through to the next two games,” Boge said.

“We had a lot go our way on Saturday and Country-Wests batsmen are very dangerous so we’ll be entering the next games very warily.”
