MODERN society can be stressful for children, which is why Innes Park-based yoga teacher Leanne Toy started her Yoga for Kids classes last year.
Ms Toy said she ran the course in the last term of last year and the response had encouraged her to keep going with it.
“Kids love yoga because a lot of the postures are based on animals and things in nature,” she said.
“It’s perfect for kids because they have that innate sense of creativity.”
Ms Toy said she had had parents tell her their GPs had told them to seek out yoga training for their children.
“A lot of kids seem to be under a lot of pressure,” she said.
Ms Toy said Yoga for Kids was designed to help children get the most out of life by teaching them in a fun way some practical skills that would stand them in good stead for life.
Ms Toy said yoga could help children and teenagers who suffered from anxiety, post-traumatic stress, asthma, insomnia, depression, obesity, hormonal imbalance and stress.
Yoga for Kids classes start next Tuesday.
There will be two classes for different age groups: five to eight years, and nine to 14 years.
Bookings are essential and for more information phone 4159 3660 or email lonnietoy@gmail.com
Ms Toy also runs general classes in Bundaberg and Bargara and will hold pregnancy yoga classes later in the year.
