Neighbours close to support family

A CONSTANTLY ringing telephone in the deserted Brennan household was what tipped next door neighbour Maree Burnett off that something significant had happened Thursday morning.

“Yesterday morning their phone was going from 6am — it rang every five minutes,” she said.

“I knew something had happened. We were hopeful.”

Mrs Burnett said, although her family had only known the Brennans for about three years, they had witnessed the trauma of the kidnapping ordeal.

“We’re thrilled for Geoff and Heather because we’ve seen what they’ve gone through,” she said.

“I feel so sorry for them (the family) — I don’t know how they’ve coped.”

She now looks forward to having a chin-wag with a much happier family from their verandas.
