Jack Johnson to play Bluesfest

JACK JOHNSON will headline the Bluesfest 21st anniversary festival in Byron Bay next Easter, organisers have announced.

Jack Johnson will step up a notch to headline next year’s Bluesfest after first appearing in Byron Bay two years ago.

JACK JOHNSON will headline the Bluesfest 21st anniversary festival in Byron Bay next Easter, organisers have announced.

It is the first time the American musician has performed in Australia since last year, and was at Bluesfest in 2007.

“Without doubt this will be one of Bluesfest’s great and historical moments,” Bluesfest director Peter Noble said.

“Jack embodies the spirit of Bluesfest with his ethos and commitment to great music, sustainable living and cultural respect.”

It will be Johnson’s only Australian appearance.

During last year’s Australian tour Jackson performed to a capacity crowd of 28,000 at Centennial Park in Sydney and two sold-out appearances at Melbourne’s Myer Music Bowl.

Others on the line-up announced yesterday are ALO (Animal Liberation Orchestra), Zee Avi, Matt Costa, Neil Halstead, Orquesta Buena Vista Social Club, Ozomatli and Galactic.
