MR Lucas said he was working towards a system of standardised forms to cut down on red tape for doctors and allow them to see more patients.
“One of the most important things we can do in Queensland Health is to work to standardise our forms. People might not know that we have different forms in different hospitals for the same thing,” Mr Lucas said.
Bundaberg region doctors had vented their frustrations about paperwork required from Queensland Health in a survey conducted by the Australian Medical Association Queensland looking for the “warts and all” truth into the health system.
Mr Lucas said there would be one form for each procedure throughout the state.
“I’m glad we have the AMA’s support to do that because frankly it’s a challenge to talk to individual doctors about forms they are used to for many years,” he said.
AMAQ president Mason Stevenson said the survey found red tape contributed to a “general ill feeling toward Queensland Health”.
