IT was a McHappy Day for anyone who walked through the busy doors of either Bundaberg McDonald’s stores on Saturday.

Not only did the event raise more for seriously ill children in Bundaberg than it ever has before — $10,000 between both stores — but the day was filled with entertainment to bring a smile to everyone involved.

“It was just a really good vibe, it was lots of fun,” Bundaberg McDonald’s franchisee Mel Manley said.

“We got the results we were after and we’d like to thank everyone who volunteered and donated.”

Mrs Manley said the national fundraising target for Ronald McDonald House Charities of $2 million was reached, and volunteered help from NewsMail, Bundaberg Police, Surf Lifesaving Queensland (many of whom were also McDonald’s employees), and many more local identities helped the day go smoothly.

She said it was wonderful to see Bundaberg so heartily supported the cause, of which our region is the biggest user in Queensland.

As well as face painters, jumping castles, magicians and entertainment, both Bundaberg stores were also treated to a visit from Aussie actor Bernard Curry.

Mr Curry, who has starred in Neighbours and Home and Away, hosted the first season of Beauty and the Geek Australia this year, and came along to sign autographs in-store.
