A MAN and a woman are dead after a horrific two-car crash on Rosedale Road yesterday afternoon.

Bundaberg Police Inspector Kevin Guteridge said the accident happened about 5.30pm yesterday, when two cars travelling in opposite directions collided along the 100kmh stretch and killed both drivers.

Insp Guteridge confirmed one of the drivers was a Bundaberg woman, while the driver of the second car was a man.

Both cars were so badly damaged their makes and models could not be confirmed last night.

He said a child, in the same vehicle as the woman, had survived and was taken to hospital as a precaution.

Police investigations into the cause of the crash are continuing.

“We’re investigating that one of the drivers may have been blinded by the sun,” Insp Guteridge said.

A stream of vehicles heading from Bundaberg along the road were diverted around the scene, about one kilometre north of the Avondale Tavern.

At least four police cars and two ambulances attended the scene, which closed the road to both directions of traffic until about 9pm.
