IS this the face of a woman who has found love?
Farmer Wants a Wife contestant Rebecca Davis, 45, enjoyed relative anonymity at her Sunshine Coast home of 14 years, but that changed this week when the mother of one shared a romantic moment with north Queensland sugar cane farmer Gavin Pahlke, 49, in front of millions of fans of the Australian reality-TV series.
Rebecca, a commercial banking assistant manager, was happy to keep the secret of whether romance had developed between the pair.
However, she says the final two episodes, which will go to air next week, are full of romantic surprises for all of the farmers and their ladies.
Rebecca said she had never watched the popular television program until one afternoon when her 16-year-old son, Freedom, was at work.
“I remember seeing Macca and Narina (last season) and I remember thinking they were a bit cute and what a lovely story,” Rebecca said.
“At the end of the show I saw they were taking applications for season four and I thought I might give it a go.”
Some weeks later, Rebecca put her entry in and a couple of days later she got the call.
“I was quite blown away when I first met Gavin. There was a connection straight away, he kind of floored me,” Rebecca said with a giggle.
She admits her time with Gavin, on screen at least, has been limited but counts the famous makeover of Gavin and his son Steven's home as a definite highlight.
“I had so much fun,” she said.
Rebecca says she has kept in touch with many of the contestants, including Steven's early favourite, Sian.
“We had lots of conversations and I was kind of a soft place for her to fall,” she said.
So has Rebecca found love?
“I love putting myself in new situations and this was definitely a great experience,” she said.
