Kerry Jackson is looking forward to showing off his LX Torana hatchback at the upcoming Cure 4 Cancer Car Show.
MOTORS and metal have taken a back seat to the upcoming Cure 4 Cancer Car Show and the event has become all about mates.
Car enthusiast and 1976 Torana hatchback owner Kerry Jackson will be placing his car on display at Hinkler Central Shopping Centre on July 18 and said his friends “bloody better” come along to the day.
“I'm sure if they have their cars organised they will be there,” Mr Jackson said.
Mr Jackson lost an aunt to cancer in recent years and this experience has motivated him to help raise money for cancer research as well as to help out his friend and car show organiser, Brett Taylor, who lost both his parents to the disease.
He is not alone in his reasons for attending the Cure 4 Cancer Car Show with 1930 Ford pick-up owner Clive Mason bringing his car along for the same cause.
“I went to the first one back in 2006 - I'm just helping out my mate,” Mr Mason said.
Cure 4 Cancer Car Show organiser Brett Taylor said currently between 30 and 40 cars have registered to be a part of the show.
“We will have about the same as last year, but will hopefully expect more to show up,” Mr Taylor said.
For those who are yet to register their car, there is still time.
“We hope to have all the entry forms in by July 10, but you still can enter your car on the day,” he said.
As part of the event, the Shannons Super Rig will have all you need to know about the cars on show with a display of automotive memorabilia, a web kiosk and outdoor stage area.
To lead into the car show, Mr Taylor will hold a car wash at Bob Jane T-Marts on Sunday, July 12 and funds raised there will also be going to cancer research.
Registration prior to the car show is $15 and on the day it is $25.
Pre-paid entry to the sound-off is $30 and on the day $40.
• When: July 18, 9am to 3pm
• Where: Hinkler Central Shopping Centre upper level car park
• Entry: $2 and free for children under 6
