FOR pensioner Sharon Dieben, her dog Tammy is the only living link to her late mother.

“My mother passed three years ago and I've been looking after her since,” Mrs Dieben said.

“I took it on because she reminds me so much of mum, every time I look at her.

“But lately it has got very expensive.”

Now, that cost is higher, since council raised dog fees so Tammy's registration now costs $35, up from $15.

Luckily, Mrs Dieben is one of the few pensioners who will be helped by money raised by Bundaberg residents to pay for her fees.
