Coastal problem on rise

Lenny Meredith and Lenny Ward would like a solution to their water woes.

WHILE most people enjoyed the pleasant rain yesterday, Innes Park resident Len Ward was calling his wife to tell her she could not come home access to their home was flooded.

Mr Ward said flooding at his Nautilus Drive home had been an on-going problem since he built there 18 months ago.

After yesterday's downpour the water again started creeping up and was about 30cm in depth in the deepest part.

Mr Ward said he had been on the phone to council since 1pm yesterday until late in the afternoon, trying to get an answer or a solution none of which were forthcoming. "We just drive over the water and wait for it to dry out," he said. "Twelve months ago council rang me and said they were coming out to fix the problem and I don't know what they did."

Six months ago, the NewsMail reported on similar flooding problems raised by a resident in nearby Mermaid Drive.

Bundaberg Regional Council chief executive officer Peter Byrne said the council was looking at a wide range of drainage issues.
