UFO researchers are considering travelling to Childers to investigate sightings in bush near the town.

UFO Research Queensland president Sheryl Gottschall said a man from Childers called her on August 14 to report seeing strange lights.

"He called in May last year and reported seeing something," she said.

"He also called on August 4."

Ms Gottschall said when he called on August 14 he had decided to follow some of the lights he had spotted.

"He said he could see two bright lights on the ground and one in the air," she said.

"He said they were bigger than a car."

She said the man told her he could see the lights clearly through the scrub, and they were as bright as the sun.

"He said he got 200m from them, and he was whispering while he was talking to me on the phone," she said.

Ms Gottschall said the organisation had had reports from the Bundaberg area before.

"There's always reports, we get about 100 a year," she said.

Ms Gottschall said there was always UFO activity across the state, but there had been an increase in the Gold Coast area recently.

She said what the man had spotted near Childers was interesting.

But she said she would not be in a hurry to approach anything mysterious.
