Scott wary of former teammate in battle against the Panthers

NORTH Queensland representative forward Matt Scott believes former Cowboys hooker James Segeyaro's explosive dummy half game and Jamie Soward's composure pose a serious threat to the club's push for a top-four finish.

"They've been playing well all year. They (Penrith) are a bit of a dark horse, actually, they just keep on winning games," Scott (pictured) said ahead of tonight's clash in Penrith.

The co-captain said Soward had taken his game up a notch following a season-ending injury to halves partner Peter Wallace, adding Segeyaro was also playing exceptionally well.

"Soward has taken his game up, and Chico (Segeyaro) has been great for them out of dummy half, and their forwards play off the back of him," Scott said.

The no-nonsense prop, who has had the benefit of a few hard games back following a nasty facial injury suffered in Origin II in June, said the form of co-captain Johnathan Thurston since moving back to halfback had been "sensational" but it would all come down to the forward packs.
