READY TO BE MAYOR

With 13,049 votes Mr Dempsey's closest rival is Troy Madle with 2510 or 13.54% of the votes.

Mr Dempsey said the early numbers were promising but there was still a very long way to go.

"All the candidates have been working very hard and I've seen all sides of voting," he said.

"For me it's all about being humble until the end.

"There's a long way to go but it's looking promising."
