5. Charlotte. A feminine variation of the masculine Charles and the name of the British Royal family's little princess, this name is very popular at the moment. Meaning free man or petite and having a beautiful history, including being the name of one of the Bronte sisters, it's easy to see why this name has stayed in fashion.

4. June. This pretty name is a bit more unusual, which can be a drawcard for those wanting a more singular name for their offspring. The Latin name, a variation of Juno, taken from the Roman goddess, who was the queen of the gods and patroness of marriage and weddings. The name means "young".

3. Elizabeth. This name has Hebrew and Biblical origins. The meaning of the name Elizabeth is God is my oath. It is the name of Jane Austen's most popular heroine, Elizabeth Bennet from Pride and Prejudice. It has been consistently popular.

2. Catherine. A lovely name that has evolved over time with many variants, Catherine is a solid choice for any daughter. First recorded in England in 1196, this name has a long, proud history. The meaning of the name is clear or pure.

1. Isabella. A popular name made all the more so by the Twilight novels. This one might be a little too popular for some parents, but it's still a beautiful choice. This name is a variation of Elizabeth, meaning devoted to God.

Boys' names:

5. Henry. This name has English and German origins. The German meaning is "home ruler". It has remained consistently popular in many countries over hundreds of years.

2. Reuben. Fittingly, this name means "behold, a son" in Hebrew. This name is once again becoming popular but is still relatively underused. It is a Biblical name and has a strong history.

1. Frederick. This is a English derivative of the German name Friedrich and means peaceful ruler. The name seemed to have almost disappeared, but parents are once again considering it as a strong classic to reconsider.
