TV show spot proves Bundaberg's chillis rule

BUNDABERG chilli grower Trent De Paoli got a taste of the high pressure cooking that makes My Kitchen Rules a viewer favourite.

He was one of 12 Coles suppliers chosen to appear on the popular Channel 7 program, in an episode which will air tonight.

Austchilli has supplied Coles for 19 years, with over eight varieties of hand-picked chillies every day of the year.

"I think it's great that Coles are supporting Australian growers, and that we can promote Australian-grown produce is a great opportunity," Mr De Paoli said.

Mr De Paoli got to see a full day of shooting of the reality show and said it was "fairly intense".

"I take my hat off those guys," he said.

"The contestants have to isolate themselves and basically walk away from their families during shooting.

"It was interesting to go behind the scenes."

While Mr De Paoli wouldn't give away who was the winner during tonight's challenge, he said he was naturally biased towards any contestant using chilli.

Coles general manager of fresh produce Brad Gorman said Coles was pleased to support Mr De Paoli's appearance on MKR because of his commitment to quality produce.

"Coles source products directly from hundreds of food producers across Queensland," Mr Gorman said.

"Highlighting their produce to a national audience through My Kitchen Rules is another way we can celebrate local suppliers as well as the great food grown on family farms," he said.

"We were delighted to support Trent's appearance with his family on behalf of Coles in My Kitchen Rules and, in doing so, shine the national spotlight on such an innovative Queensland business that produces high-quality chilli.

"Queensland producers such as the De Paoli family are vital in ensuring Australians have excellent fresh local food to buy at Coles.

"It's our belief in companies like Austchilli which drives our efforts to source Australian-grown food whenever and wherever possible."
