Messi breaks Champions League record
LIONEL Messi became the youngest player to reach 50 Champions League goals after notching two penalties in Barcelona's 3-1 quarter-final win over AC Milan at the Nou Camp.
The 24-year-old also equalled former Milan player Jose Altafini's record of 14 goals in a European campaign as Barca set up a semi-final clash with either Chelsea or Benfica, who play Thursday morning. Barca won the tie 3-1 on aggregate.
Milan drew level after Messi's early penalty with a goal from Antonio Nocerino.
Messi's second spot kick restored the lead and Andres Iniesta killed off any hopes of a Milan revival with a third.
In today's other quarter-final Bayern Munich won 2-0 at home against Marseille to complete a 4-0 aggregate victory.
