Lightning blows a hole in Bundaberg home

A BUNDABERG woman has shared a photo to the NewsMail Facebook page after a lightning strike blew a hole through a wall. 

"Lightning strike to our house blew a hole through the wall this afternoon at Parklands," Rhonda Shapland said. 

The event happened as emergency services called on residents to be prepared for a wet week - with heavy rain and storms expected across the state in coming days. 

The Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) has advised areas along the east coast from Townsville to the New South Wales border, extending inland to Charters Towers and Charleville, may be impacted by heavy rainfall, thunderstorm activity, flash flooding and riverine flooding between Wednesday, January 21 to Saturday, January 24.
