Holdens to rev up car show

CLASSIC car enthusiasts around the Bundaberg region are reaching for their chamois and polish in preparation for the All Holden Day.

Held at Across The Waves this Saturday, the Bundaberg Early Holden Club event will feature about 100 vehicles.

Bundaberg Early Holden Club life member Garth Stubbins called in to Autobarn Bundaberg yesterday to give a display vehicle advertising the event a careful wipe down and polish.

The 1969 HB Brabham Torana, owned by club president Bob Butterworth, will be one of the gems on offer this weekend.

Mr Stubbins said while the event was primarily a celebration of cars emblazoned with the famous Holden lion, others were welcome.

"There's no argy-bargy or anything with the other ones," he said.

"Maybe in my younger days, but gosh, I'm 76 now."

Mr Stubbins said the event would feature more cars than it had in many years.

"There's a hell of a lot of variety this year," he said.

"It's shaping up to be one to remember."

Proceeds will be used to help refurbish the Bundaberg renal unit and purchase new equipment.

The All Holden Day will be held at Across The Waves Sports Complex, Thabeban St, beginning at 8.30am.
