THE residential care unit at Childers Hospital is a little brighter thanks to a generous donation of a painting by the Childers Catholic Women's League.

Childers Hospital nursing director Susan Parks said the painting of a Woodgate beach scene, by Ngari Pearce from Dalarnil, would help residents feel at home in the unit.

"The painting will hang in the residents' lounge and contribute to the home-like atmosphere for our residents and their visitors," Ms Parks said.

"On behalf of the Childers Hospital staff, I would like to thank the Childers Catholic Women's League for their continued support of the unit," she said.

League president Sonia Jones said the group enjoyed developing the project.

"We hope the residents and visitors to Childers Hospital High Care Wing will enjoy this lovely painting," Ms Jones said.

Wide Bay Hospital and Health Board chairman Dominic Devine welcomed the donation.

"The support Childers Hospital receives from the community is much appreciated and highly valued by the Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service," Mr Devine said.

"I know each of the people in the residential care unit will appreciate this new addition to their surroundings," he said.

Other items previously donated by the league include a clover table for the residents' dining room.
