Man, 64, charged with causing brother's death in floodwaters

A 64-YEAR-OLD Gin Gin man has been charged with dangerous driving causing death following the death of his brother in floodwaters.

The alleged victim, a 68-year-old Bundaberg man, died when the car he was allegedly a passenger in was swept into floodwaters south-west of Bundaberg in late January.

The incident occurred at a crossing on Delaneys Rd at St Kilda and the man's body was found downstream in the hours after the car was allegedly swept into the water.

Gin Gin officer-in-charge Sergeant Tim Marrinan said the man's brother was charged on Monday following a police investigation and will appear in court in April.

Sgt Marrinan said it was a timely reminder for drivers to heed the "if it's flooded, forget it" message.
