Bargara features on tee-shirts sold in national retailer

LIVING in a stunning location has helped Bargara woman Jodie Turnbull capture some beautiful images and national retailer Jeanswest agrees.

Ms Turnbull's image of Kelly's Beach was selected as one of 10 from across the country to feature on a Jeanswest t-shirt, part of its Snap Shot series.

It's a great promotion for the region and for Ms Turnbull, seeing the shirts now available in stores, including the Bundaberg store at Hinkler Central, was very special but unexpected.

"I just saw on the Instagram feed there was a competition and they said to upload a photo of what summer means to you," she said

"So I just took one that I'd taken recently and uploaded it.

"It was taken from Kelly's Beach, it's literally on my backyard. I took it at sunset one day and didn't think much more of it."

Ms Turnbull said she saw some of the other entries and didn't think her photo stood a chance. However she was thrilled to learn Jeanswest thought otherwise.

"I was very stoked. I got a message on the phone for me to contact them and was told I'd been picked as one of the winners," she said.

"It's very cool seeing them in the store. I got mine a couple of weeks ago sent to me, but seeing it in store is a whole other thing.

"I've been told from other people all across Australia that they've brought it. They've been sending me messages saying 'I've got your shirt'."

Judge and fashion photographer Carlotta Moye described Ms Turnbull's image as the "magic minute".

"That last light after the sun has gone down when everything goes purple. It's just so calming and beautiful. My favourite light," she said.

Taking the image with her phone, Ms Turnbull said Kelly's Beach was a beautiful spot and she enjoyed photography as a hobby.

"I live in a really beautiful area; there is always something nice to see and I'm just lucky that I get to see it a lot," she said.

This year's Jeanswest Snap Shot series embraced Australian-made, another aspect Ms Turnbull was really pleased about.

"I love the fact that it's all Australian-made this year, everything... from the cotton to where it's actually manufactured is 100% Australian-owned and made which is really good," she said.
