COPMANHURST Public School teacher Latasha Gane got the surprise of her life yesterday when her long-term partner Jacob Andrews snuck into the school assembly like a love-struck schoolboy to propose to Miss Gane.

With his and her family in tow, Jacob waltzed through the back door of the assembly with a special glint in his eye before getting down on one knee to propose to Tash, who already had tears rolling down her cheeks.

"I never imagined Jacob would propose to me at school," she said.

"We recently bought a home together, so I thought he would pop the question there, but this was just so unexpected.

"It was perfect."

Miss Gane went on to explain that her home and her beloved classroom were two of her favourite places to be, so the proposal was very heart-felt.

"I've been planning it for ages," Jacob said.

"I would come out to the school with Tash to help re-arrange her classroom on weekends.

"Little did she know, I was actually scouting out the school to see where to propose to her."

The news didn't take long to travel as Latasha and Jacob, along with Jacob's parents Mark and Lyn Andrews and Latasha's parents Michael and Rosie Gane, brother Shannon, and grandmother Evelyn Gane, waltzed through the streets of the sleepy village of Copmanhurst to shouts of congratulations from excited school students and their parents.

Miss Gane has been a part of the staff at Copmanhurst since the beginning of the term and has already established herself as a popular teacher.
